“The high country can teach you a lot if you let it. Our job is simply to help you step into it with confidence and respect.”

BUILT ON TRADITION

Founded by Laramy “Sasquatch” Miller — respected outdoorsman, horseman, houndsman, and traditional hunter, LSM Outdoors is a Colorado-based outfitting operation built on generations of Western tradition and a deep love for the San Juan Mountains. We offer guided and unguided hunts, multi-day horseback pack trips, and scenic day rides that give guests an authentic experience in some of the most rugged and beautiful country in the West. With strong horses, knowledgeable guides, and camps tucked deep in the San Juan National Forest and  Weminuche Wilderness, we’re committed to doing things the right way — ethically, responsibly, and always with respect for the land. Whether you’re chasing elk in the fall, packing into the high country for a summer adventure, or joining us for a quiet ride through mountain timber, our goal is simple: to share the spirit of the San Juan Mountains through experiences shaped by heritage, horsemanship, and imense respect for the land.

I was born and raised in the mountains of southern Colorado. Standing 6’7” and weighing about 270 pounds, I suppose I earned the nickname “Sasquatch” early on. When I was eight, my dad bought me a .22 rifle and a brick of shells, then told me he’d give me a nickel for every prairie dog tail I brought back. Let’s just say the prairie dogs had a rough afternoon — and that’s pretty much where my story begins.

Growing up, I watched, copied, and emulated my uncles, Dirk and Colt Ross — both outfitters and true mountain men — and my grandpa, Papa Jon, who was cut from that same cloth. They showed me how to ride, hunt, track, survive, and respect the land the way earlier generations did. Those years shaped everything I know about the outdoors and set me on the path I’m still walking today.

As I got older, I carried those lessons into a career that has now spanned well over twenty years. I have either owned operations or guided during that time, and the work has taken me into some of the most rugged, wild country a person could hope to explore. That lifestyle helped me refine the traditional skills I was raised with and opened the door to something I never expected: outdoor television.

I spent several years hosting multiple TV shows that showcased real wilderness living, old-school craftsmanship, and the kind of backcountry adventures I grew up with. We filmed in tough conditions and remote places, and I tried to keep every episode honest — no shortcuts, no gimmicks, just the real deal.

Founder, Modern Day Mountain Man, Outfitter & Guide

 Laramy "Sasquatch" Miller

Even though I’m no longer producing new episodes, I’m proud that the work continues to resonate with people who appreciate authenticity.

Eventually, the pull of home grew stronger, and I returned to Colorado with my family. My wife, Catarina, and I now have two kids together, Faye and Declan, who we are blessed to raise in the same mountains that I grew up in. I also have two older children, Pepper and Blaze. Although they don’t live with us in Colorado, I love being able to show them this lifestyle whenever they’re with us — horses, mountains, and the kind of country that helped shape who I am.

I founded LSM Outdoors to carry on the outfitting tradition my family started. While I’m not guiding every hunt these days, I’m involved in every part of the operation — the stock we use, the guides we hire, the ethics we uphold, and the way we treat every guest who comes into camp. My goal is simple: to offer honest Western experiences, rooted in respect, tradition, and a lifelong love of the mountains.

THE LSM OUTDOORS TEAM

I’ve worn many hats over the years — educator, artist, project manager, creative director — and each one has shaped the way I show up in my role at LSM Outdoors. Before stepping into the world of operations and outfitting, I spent several years teaching and was honored to receive a few awards along the way. My years teaching taught me how to lead with patience, organize chaos, and bring people together, which turns out to be exactly what an outfitting operation needs behind the scenes

Before joining LSM Outdoors, I built a career in photography, digital marketing, branding, and content strategy. What started as a simple photography business eventually grew into a six-figure creative studio where I worked with boutique hotels, mission-driven nonprofits, and entrepreneurs across the country. I loved helping people tell their stories, and along the way I learned how to grow audiences, strengthen brands, and support meaningful work. One of my favorite chapters was serving as Director of Creative Content for a large private school in Tennessee, where the campaigns I led helped significantly increase donor support.

Now I’m in Southwest Colorado, putting all those skills to work at LSM Outdoors while also spending as much time as I can in the saddle or on the trails.

Business Operations & Wrangler

I’m a wrangler by morning, an operations-and-brand brain by afternoon, photographer as needed and a mountain ultramarathon runner on the days that call for a very long adventure with a lot of elevation gain. Horses, trail running, and the outdoors have been threads through every chapter of my life, so getting to combine them with my work feels like everything came full circle.

My husband and I live on our little mountain ranch with our dogs, horses, goats and chickens — one big chaotic, joyful circus — and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. This lifestyle inspires me every day, and being part of LSM Outdoors lets me share a bit of that magic with the folks who come here to experience the San Juan mountains for themselves.

Guide

I was born and raised in Ignacio, where a love for the outdoors was part of everyday life. After high school, I set out to see more of the world, spending time traveling and working across Nebraska and Utah. Those miles on the road—and the trails—shaped who I am today.

I’ve always been drawn to adventure, hard work, and honest living. I’ve spent plenty of time in the saddle, and there’s nothing I enjoy more than being outside and sharing those experiences with others. I’m the kind of person who likes to lend a hand wherever it’s needed, and folks often say I’ve got an old soul—steady, patient, and grounded.
Whether I’m helping someone take their first ride, guiding a trip, or just swapping stories around a fire, I aim to make every day outdoors a good one.

With a lifetime of outdoor experience—ranching, cowboying, hunting, and fishing—I’m proud to bring real, ground-up knowledge to LSM Outdoors. I was raised in the lifestyle, shaped by the land, and I’m committed to giving every client an authentic, successful Western experience.

Born and raised in Prescott, Arizona, I grew up on ranches and spent my childhood cowboying across Arizona and Northern California. From working cattle to long days in the saddle, the ranching lifestyle taught me responsibility, grit, and respect for the land—qualities that still guide the way I work today.

I was introduced to the outfitting world early on. My father was an outfitter for over 30 years, and as a kid I learned not only how to hunt, track, and understand wildlife, but also how to work with clients in the field. Guiding wasn’t something I picked up later in life—it’s something I was raised into.

I have now been professionally guiding for more than seven years, helping hunters pursue elk, mule deer, pigs, and other big game across the West. Whether it’s calling bulls at daybreak or glassing big country, I bring a calm, capable, and client-focused approach to every hunt.

For the past five years, I’ve also worked in the San Diego long-range sport-fishing industry. Those trips have taken me all the way down the Pacific coast to Panama, targeting species from rockfish to blue and black marlin. The ocean sharpened my patience, awareness, and ability to perform under pressure—skills that transfer seamlessly back into guiding hunts.

Hospitality & Marketing

Born in Oregon and raised in a military family, I grew up moving around the country. Most of my later childhood and early adult years were spent in Michigan and Indiana. While living in Indiana, I traveled to Montana for my aunt’s wedding at Laramy’s lodge—where, unexpectedly, I met the man I’d eventually build a life with.

After some long distance, RV traveling, and eventually relocating to Montana, Laramy and I welcomed our daughter, Faye. We later moved to his hometown of Ignacio, where we’ve now added our son, Declan, to the crew.

Although I didn’t grow up hunting, I quickly fell in love with the lifestyle. Since meeting Laramy, I’ve been lucky enough to tag a few mule deer, an elk, and even a mountain lion. You could say I’m hooked.

My most important title is “Mom,” and it’s one I don’t take for granted. Before this chapter, I was a dance teacher, a preschool teacher, and spent years in retail management. Today, alongside my roles as wife, mother, and outfitter’s right-hand, I also work remotely as a social media manager and serve as a marketing executive for a wellness company. Any given day you can usually find me baking, prioritizing fitness, crafting/creating or enjoying anything that gets me outdoors.

Within the outfitting business, I stay busy cooking for hunters, managing our social media accounts, helping pack camps in and out, and keeping the behind-the-scenes running smoothly. My childhood love of horses makes this life especially meaningful—after years of dreaming, I finally get to spend my days on horseback and raise our kids with that same joy. It’s a full and busy life, but one I’m incredibly grateful for. This life is such a blessing—God is so good.
